| On that historic morning, thousands of brave service members stormed the beaches of Normandy, facing overwhelming odds with extraordinary courage, determination, and sacrifice. Many never returned home, but their actions forever altered the future of the world.
As members of the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, we understand the meaning of service, commitment, and answering the call when others are in need. While our mission is different, we remain inspired by the selfless dedication demonstrated by the Greatest Generation on D-Day and throughout World War II.
Today, we pause to honor the heroes who landed on Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches, as well as all those who supported the operation from land, sea, and air. Their legacy continues to remind us that freedom is never free and that service to others is among the highest callings.
Please join us in remembering and honoring the men and women whose bravery on June 6, 1944, helped shape the world we live in today.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget. |
