- What inspired you to become a volunteer firefighter?

I saw a sign on my way home from college at Brooke Volunteer (Co. 5) Fire Department saying “Volunteer Firefighters Wanted.” I felt like people have always given me opportunities to better my life and I never had a way to pay it back. I just thought this could be my way of paying it back.

- What is your favorite part about serving the commmunity?

The hope that someone’s bad day was not a terrible day because someone showed up.

- What’s your favorite memory with the team?

New Years staffing 2016

- What advice would you give to someone thinking about voluntering?

To accept the fact that everything is incredibly dynamic. Most of everything is based on heuristics and any dedicated plan will be changed the moment you arrive on scene. Being adaptable is key - static, preconceived notions will leave you ill equipped. Be ready to learn and try new things.
