- What inspired you to become a volunteer firefighter?

When I was a junior in high school, I became a volunteer firefighter. At that time, my mission in life was to either join the military or pursue a career as a firefighter. Ultimately, I chose the latter, and it has been the best decision of my life. After 24 years of service as a firefighter, I recently retired, but I continue to serve my community as a volunteer firefighter, totaling 30 years of service. Serving my community has brought me immense joy, and I’ve cherished every opportunity to contribute. Additionally, I take pride in being a steward of the fire service. I have had a rewarding career, both as a volunteer and a professional firefighter.

- What was your first day as a volunteer like?

My first day as a volunteer firefighter was incredibly exciting—a new beginning filled with possibilities. I was eager to be part of a great experience, not only as a young man but also for my future. Although I had not yet completed my training, I was enthusiastic about joining a dedicated team of first responders committed to helping others. I couldn’t wait to ride the fire truck and immerse myself in this rewarding journey.

- What’s your favorite memory with the team?

One of my favorite memories is responding to emergency calls alongside my fellow firefighters and successfully helping the community during their most desperate times. Being able to assist others in resolving their emergencies, without seeking gratitude or rewards, embodies the essence of our work as first responders. The greatest reward is knowing we are making a positive impact in our community
