If you are not related to someone at the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, chances are very good that you know someone that is connected to the fire service in some shape or form. That is why the Junior Firefighter Program at the Stafford Fire Department is constantly growing.
Our program was founded in 1975, and consists of youths aged 16 to 18. It was designed to teach safety and basic skills required for firefighting. The Junior Program has a mission statement of: "To provide a safe environment for youth to gather within the community, to learn about the many aspects of the fire service, and to provide avenues for positive social interaction for youth's within the program, and for youth's within the community."
This group of young Stafford firefighters in training have been busy participating in parades, helping with fire prevention activities at local events and learning new skills that pertain to the fire service profession.
